Ayia Napa has long been a trend setter for the partygoer, having been a hotbed of cultures since its inception. Its visitors have brought their influences together to offer some incredible drinks and cocktails. We asked our cocktail bartenders to let us in on the current best cocktails and drinks in Ayia Napa.

Pink Gin

Once revered as a drink for the old (and the Queen Mother), the humble Gin has risen like a phoenix to make a major resurgence in the UK. This is because of what is now being called Pink Gin.

Pink Gin was originally invented by the Plymouth Gin company to offer a drink that used bitters to balance the citric tones of the drink.

Now Pink Gin is gin with the addition of a fruity mix of strawberry and raspberry, this is often mixed with soda or lemonade. The fruity, sweetness removes the hard, sour tastes of gin whilst retaining its citric nature. It is a favourite for many and offers a refreshing yet alcohol rich drink.

Slippery nipple (or nipslip)

The Slippery Nipple is a popular shooter that combines an irish cream liqueur with Sambuca. The density of the liquids gives a cool double layered drink. The sweetness of the Irish Cream it given a kick by the rounded anise flavour of the stronger Sambuca.

Butterscotch and other varieties are often offered based around changing the Irish Cream component. This is a fun, light tasting shooter and one to get you in the groove in no time.

Jaegerbomb

This fire starter is sure to get you going in no time. This drink is a shooter with a punch. The classic Jaegerbomb combines a tumbler of reb bull with a single shot (in its own glass) of Jaegermeister within it. The drink is cool and refreshing. The shot gives you an alcohol boost whilst the red bull ensures you energy levels are there to match it.

Although this drink is not new, it is a mainstay and has been powering Ayia Napa’s best partiers to some of the most epic nights.

Mimosa

The Mimosa is a refined drink that can be for morning, noon or night. It mixes a sparkling wine, normally prosecco, with orange juice and Grand Marnier or triple sec. It is cool and refreshing and will cool you off in those summer days. This drink is versatile and is suitable for any occasion. Beware, it tastes just like an orange soft drink, so it’s potency can be hidden.

Sangria

Another drink making a comeback from the depths is Sangria. This wine based drink derives from western Europe, in particular Spain and Portugal. The drink can vary wildly based on the community that makes it. Much like Pimms, the complimenting ingredients can vary based on the taste of the maker.

The classic Sangria will be based around a bold, fruity, dry red wine like a Tempranillo, Garnacha, or other Rioja wine. It is given it kicks with brandy and is rounded off with a sweetener, normally orange juice. The mix is always complimented with cuts of fruit, most common are oranges and apples. This bold drink will serve as a meal compliment or a drink to start the evening.

So, there you have it, the five best cocktails or drinks to enjoy in Ayia Napa. Some are new, some are old, but these are sure to brighten any party! Enjoy!
